just a couple of weeks until fall 2005 begins. year 2 of 3. i've got the site updated with the new class pages, as much as i have, an i've ordered what books i know about.

there is an anxiety right before the semester starts. i think it is the journey into the unknown, although we know more than we did last year. i'm looking forward to a productive year, if my health holds.

we'll see...

back from aera, relaxing in a nice quiet house. the conference went well. i made some important contacts, i think, and i was able to do some real-time podcasting. it was good practice for next semester at hollywood, where i want to really incorporate podcasting and smart mobbing into what i do with the kids.

the smart mobbing has been a way for me to coop the kids' phones without them realizing it was happening. they think we're just having a good time. well, i guess we are, but there is more, and they don't see it, but they get it.

for now, a couple weeks off, then a new semester. had a great time with the cadre in montreal. bonded more than ever before. feels pretty good.

Been working on tying up loose ends for this semester. That seems premature, but the rest of the semester revolves around and plan for changing my workplace. That paper will, in somewhat different incarnations, will culminate two of three classes. the other one will concentrate on AERA in Montreal, in April. Very much looking forward to seeing Montreal, and experiencing an ed research conference.

at f2f in los angeles. yesterday was a great day. we learned about podcasting, voip telephony, worked on research for the upcoming paper, and did some group work on the scenario assignment. it was the most productive day of any f2f so far.

today we are talking about a virtual library and activity theory, culminating with the gumbo fest at linda's house tonight.

looking forward to presenting our scenario tomorrow. don't know sue talley very well yet, so expectations are fuzzy.

the first day of the new semester. got my grades from last semester--3 a's and a b+. i'm very happy with that.

got the schedule for new classes. the first day is always confusing, and this one is no different. still waiting for syllabi but it looks like it will be an interesting term.

it is the last day of my first semester. i'm happy with my progress, if not totally happy with the way the program works. i have some real ideas about dissertation topics, and i think i have an idea how to proceed, but i will need more counsel in that regard.i was explaining my dissertation idea to someone, and it sounded pretty good. i felt like i had an idea of what was required and the way there. it was a good feeling.

now, a couple weeks of rest, if you can call it that. i have to prepare for the new semesters at hollywood and pepperdine.

it's the sunday of f2f in boston. it has been a lot of fun to visit family and see the cadre all together. it seems like the assignments have gone well, even though there is a whole new bunch of them to do.

i'm looking forward to finishing this first term. i've been working without really knowing where we are going, but i'm beginning to get an idea. being with the other cadre helps, as they have insight into the process.

going home on tuesday. missing family.
